How much delay and how much cost
Thinking about this kind of bridge was started in 1997 and this scheme changed to a concrete plan in 2004. At that time its cost was estimated to be around 464 crores. Sheila Dikshit Cabinet approved this in 2007. In the beginning, the goal was to be completed before the 2010 Commonwealth Games, but the beginning of the construction started during the Common Wealth Games 2010. In 2011, the price increased to Rs 1131 crore and now it has finally become ready for Rs 1518.37 crore.
Manish Sisodia gave special attention
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia took charge of the Signature Bridge as soon as he took charge of the Ministry of Tourism. Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation, under the Ministry of Tourism, is building Signature Bridge. Manish Sisodia constantly pressured the officers to complete this bridge as soon as possible. Not only because he is also the Finance Minister of Delhi, he has given all the financial problems related to the project as soon as possible. This led to the signing of the Signature Bridge some sooner.
How much time to change? How much minister
When the thinking of this bridge was started, then there was a BJP government in Delhi but the concrete scheme was ready in 2004, when Sheila Dikshit became the Chief Minister of Delhi for the second time. Rahul Gandhi also came formally in politics only then The project was to be completed before the Commonwealth Games, but its construction work only started. After this 2013 deadline was kept but the bridge was not ready. Sheila Dikshit government of Delhi went to Delhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s government came to the country but the bridge was not completed. After Sheila Dikshit in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister after that, President’s rule was also felt and Arvind Kejriwal became Chief Minister again in 2015. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the country but Signature Bridge was not completed. Tourism Minister in the Kejriwal government, Jitendra Singh Tomar then Kapil Mishra and then Rajendra Pal Gautam visited the Signature Bridge in the early days of assuming his tourism portfolio and promised to complete it as soon as possible, but the bridge could not be completed .
Eventually, the tourism ministry was given to the nearest and trusted Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and after completing his ministry, Signature Bridge has been completed and is open to the general public.
