In this, he was elected from Jagannathpur assembly constituency as BJP candidate. Kodaya Panchayati Raj became the minister of state under the leadership of first Chief Minister of Jharkhand Babulal Marandi. Even after the formation of Arjun Munda’s government in 2003, he remained in the same post. In the 2005 assembly elections, he was refused a BJP candidate. After this he was elected from the same assembly seat as an Independent. Due to the fragmented mandate, he supported Arjun Munda’s government under the leadership of the BJP. In September 2006, Koda and three other Independent MLAs withdrew their support from Munda’s government, which resulted in a minority government. Later, the United Progressive Alliance adopted him as the Chief Minister and formed his government, in which JMM, RJD, United Goon’s Democratic Party, Nationalist Congress Party, Forward Bloc, three Independent legislators were included. The Congress supported them from outside. On the other hand, when the scam caught up in the chief minister’s chair and had to go to jail also.

Earlier, Geeta Koda (Gita Koda) MLA from Madhu Koda’s Jagannathpur Assembly constituency has also joined the Congress. She had joined Congress in the presence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi this month. Madhu Koda’s wife Geeta Koda is an Independent MLA from Jhaghand’s Jagannathpur constituency. In the year 2014, he was selected for the second time in the state assembly. Prior to this assembly, her husband Madhu Koda was elected MLA in 2005 and in 2006, she became the Chief Minister of the state with the support of Congress, RJD and JMM. He was chief minister for nearly two years and during this time he was accused of scams involving Rs 4 thousand crore in various cases. Which had to go to jail. For this reason, he remained in jail for nearly three years without getting bail. Many cases of corruption against them are still pending in different courts. Gita Koda had supported the BJP in the biennial election for the Rajya Sabha, which was surprisingly a few months ago.
