Jodhpur: Asaram Bapu locked in Jodhpur Central Jail in Rajasthan once again shocked the court. Jodhpur District Parole Committee has rejected the 20-day parole petition of Asaram Bapu. Significantly, there is a case of rape and murder of Asaram and in this case he is lodged in jail. In the case of rape of a 16-year-old girl in her ashram in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Jodhpur court convicted Asaram on Wednesday and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Since beginning with a hut along the Sabarmati River, Asaram, who has built more than 400 ashrams in the country and around the world, had built a 10,000-crore empire in four decades. The police filed the charge sheet against Asaram and four other co-operatives on November 6, 2013 under various sections of the Poko Act, Juvenile Justice Act and Indian Penal Code. The victim had accused Asaram of calling her in an ashram near the Jodhpur area near Jodhpur and raping her on the night of 15 August 2013.
A resident of Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was studying in Asaram’s ashram located at Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh. After the verdict, the victim’s father said, ‘We had full faith in the judiciary and we are happy that justice got.’ He said that the family was constantly living in panic and it had a great impact on his business. In view of the verdict, security around the Jodhpur jail was tightened, where prohibition was already in force.
