Sardar Patel’s statue unveiled; Special train run by Varanasi railway.
Special trains run from Varanasi to Narmada district of Gujarat for those wishing to see the unveiling of the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
New Delhi: Railway has run special “Unity” train from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh for carrying 1,000 people wishing to see the program of unveiling their statue on the occasion of 143th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, to Gujarat’s Narmada district.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday unveiled Sardar Patel’s 182 meter high statue. A senior official gave this information. Sardar Patel’s statue is nearly two times higher than the Statue of Liberty in the US. Iron was collected from all over the country for the construction of the statue.
North Railway spokesperson Deepak Kumar told PTI, “The train was about to depart from Varanasi on Tuesday for about 1,000 passengers and reached Gujarat at the right time so that people could see Prime Minister unveiling the statue. This special train was organized to celebrate Sardar Patel’s 143th birth anniversary.
Several Union Ministers took part in the “Run for Unity” organized on Wednesday across the country to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal led the “Run for Unity” in the national capital.
