Snowfall and Rain warning in Jammu Kashmir
Fresh snowfall has occurred in the mountainous areas of the state including the Valley. The movement of vehicles on the national highway was affected throughout the day due to heavy snowfall on the Jawahar Tunnel on Thursday night. Given the bad weather, vehicles going towards the valley since Friday afternoon were stopped in Udhampur and Jammu. Passengers and private vehicles standing on the highway were fired till late evening. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy snowfall and rain in some other areas on Saturday.
According to the Meteorological Department, there were fresh snowfall on the plains of the valley, including the plains of the valley on Thursday night, till Friday morning. In the principality, many areas were clouded by Friday evening. The snowfall started from late night in the valley. Given the weather patterns, the concerned district administrations have been instructed to ensure all emergency incidents. With the weather clear, there has been a surge in day and night in Jammu.
Due to this, Chadar Chasar service was not affected. In Jammu division, the minimum temperature was minus 1.1 degrees Celsius and the Bhaderwah was the coldest place. In Jammu, the temperature of the day settled at 2.3 degrees Celsius, settling at 20.2 degrees Celsius. Last night’s minimum temperature also rose by 1.5 degree to 8.5 degrees Celsius.

Mandal Kashmir Bashir Ahmad Khan has issued warning of avalanches in Anantnag, Kulgam, Badgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kargil and Leh in the district. The concerned District Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to ensure all emergency incidents. SDRF, Police and Paramedical staff have been kept on alert with ambulance. Meanwhile, District Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary took stock of the drive to remove snow in the district. Control room has been set up at the Mini Secretariat Bandipora.
